Zoetwaterboeren Project

Tijink IT collaborated with Wageningen University and Research (WUR) on the Zoetwaterboeren (Freshwater Farmers) project, developing a comprehensive water management dashboard that provides real-time insights into water availability and water flow for agricultural operations.

The project addresses critical water management challenges in agriculture, enabling farmers and researchers to monitor water resources, track water flow patterns, and make informed decisions about irrigation and water allocation. The dashboard integrates multiple data sources to provide a unified view of water resources across different systems and locations.

  • IrriWatch: Connection to IrriWatch's satellite-based irrigation monitoring and advisory services
  • FarmMaps Irrigatie advies: Integration with FarmMaps irrigation advice system for precision irrigation recommendations
  • Groundwater monitoring wells: Real-time data collection from multiple groundwater monitoring wells (peilbuizen) across different locations

Technical Implementation

Tijink IT built the Zoetwaterboeren dashboard using the FarmDataViewer.com platform for fast development. The platform provided base functionalities including farm cropping schemes and field drawing capabilities, data integration, and visualization.

Building on this foundation, the system handles real-time data processing, reliable API integrations, and intuitive visualization. The platform features secure data handling, ensuring that sensitive water resource data is protected while enabling appropriate access for researchers and authorized users. The architecture supports scalability, allowing the system to handle increasing amounts of data as additional monitoring points and integrations are added.

The Zoetwaterboeren dashboard has become an essential tool for water resource management in agricultural research and practice.
